Candos hospital: commotion around babies in emergencies

Long wait last night before the daily press briefing of National Communications Committee. The meeting took place “exceptionally” around 8:15 p.m. What Kailesh Jagutpal, Minister of Health, justified by mentioning the holding of the parliamentary session, followed by the meeting of High Level committee.

What is currently worrying is the situation in hospitals, with positive cases detected among medical staff. The Minister, as well as Dr. Catherine Gaud, immunologist, health advisor, gave details in particular concerning the emergencies of the neonatal section (neonatal ICU) of Victoria Hospital, in Candos.

Following the positive Covid-19 test of a nursing assistant, a “Sanitary corridor” has been set up for the staff of this newborn emergency section. “We must protect babies and staff at the same time”, Kailesh Jagutpal explained. PCR tests were carried out on hospital staff, including that of Candos. “They are all negative until the hour”, assured the Minister. He also said that vaccination of health care workers is continuing, indicating that yesterday, “1,047 hospital staff” have been vaccinated. “There is a good answer. There will be vaccines available until Saturday. ”

Dr Catherine Gaud, for her part, clarified that in the case of the caregiver of the neonatal emergencies of Candos, she “Did not work for a long enough time. She returned on March 22. We found it at the end of the epidemic ”. According to her, the staff of these neonatal emergencies in Candos are in quarantine in a “Good hotel to rest”.

As for the experts, this medical staff uses a sanitary corridor on the outward and return journeys between the hotel and the hospital. “We managed to prevent this staff from going to the rest of the hospital. There is no loss of chances for these babies. ” Before ensuring that this caregiver will be subjected to PCR tests every three days.
