Vaccination was slow in the first quarter due to a lack of vaccines, but in the future it will be necessary to concentrate on receiving large loads of vaccine, the prime minister said.
In April alone, Poland will receive five million doses of the vaccine, and that number could reach seven million, said Mikhail Dvorchik, head of the government’s vaccination program.
The network of vaccination points will be expanded to include, inter alia, pharmacies, large companies and vaccination points easily accessible by car.
Both the application process and the vaccination procedure itself will be simplified, officials said.
Poland has decided not to prioritize new groups by introducing a simpler system that allows more and more young people to apply gradually.
Six million doses of the vaccine have been injected in Poland so far. Four million people received the first dose and two million received both doses.
Poland has recently recorded a record number of new infections, around 30,000 per day.
To date, 2.29 million cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Poland, and the number of Covid-19-related deaths has approached 52,400.
