The editorial team received the following letter to the editor on the article on the control of mask requirements on March 29
Unfortunately, the tone of voice of the employees of the public order office of the city of Schweinfurt is not an isolated case, but common practice as I was able to experience it myself in January this year. When I walked past the Roßmarkt near the Thalia bookstore, I didn’t wear a mask and was immediately attacked very violently by the security officer. I apologized because I had assumed that the mask requirement only affected the bus station, which I didn’t want to go to. . In addition to the extremely aggressive and impolite behavior, I received a fine of 153 euros over the next few days, which I handed over to our lawyer.
It is certainly necessary for the security forces to check whether the mask is required, but as in the reported case of Ms. V, employees of the public order office should, in my opinion, master the basics of good manners. This certainly cannot be attested to the employees of this regulatory office! The fact that it often stirs up on the part of the citizens, as Mr von Lackum claims in the report, I would rate as a “fairy tale hour”, or does the boss not know what his employees are up to? That would be sad but definitely possible.
Escalation is always triggered by one’s own behavior, whoever behaves sensibly and politely to his counterpart is also treated in the same way.
