“The past 24 hours were very tough, there are still complications and my dearest one is now being taken to the operating theater,” writes Ruud’s girlfriend Olcay Gulsen in her Instagram Stories. “It’s a journey full of bumps, but it’s going to be really fine.”

De Wild announced last week that he had colon cancer (see video above) and subsequently underwent colon surgery. Last weekend he was allowed to go home, but on Monday afternoon he was rushed to hospital again.

The radio DJ is expected to convalesce for three months. He told this when a week ago he announced in his own radio show on NPO Radio 2 that he had already had colon cancer for a number of months. De Wild says he was there early.

The 51-year-old NPO Radio 2 DJ will be replaced by Eddy Keur during his recovery.
