Apple will launch Apple School Manager’s integration with Claris Connect in the coming weeks, after the tool’s first beta launch in 2019.
Claris is an Apple subsidiary best known for the FileMaker application. Claris Connect is a tool that allows you to bring multiple applications together to create powerful automated workflows without having to know how to create connections. For example, this tool can create automations to receive a Slack notification for a new Typeform entry or automatically add an Eventbrite ticket sale to MailChimp. It is a tool already used by thousands of schools around the world.
When Apple School Manager was launched, it included a handful of integrations, but most schools relied on SFTP downloads to push student data from their school information system to Apple School Manager to create Managed Apple IDs. Claris Connects builds on this SFTP integration with predefined templates to connect compatible SIS providers to Apple School Manager. Once the integration is configured, Claris Connect will be able to import school data into Apple School Manager in a few minutes. As the data changes on the SIS side, Claris Connects will facilitate automatic data update.
Rather than creating all integrations through Apple School Manager, Apple uses Claris Connect technology to establish connections with SIS providers and automatically provide Managed Apple IDs when students enroll in school. Once managed credentials are created, students will have access to all Apple education apps and services, including Schoolwork, Classroom, 200GB of iCloud storage, and a shared iPad.
Integration will soon be available with Aeries, Follet Aspen and Skyward SIS. Claris Connect will be available free of charge to schools using Apple School Manager to distribute Apple devices.
