Fancy a little riddle? What song are the following verses from?
“From you, source of all goods, much good has been done to me;
your mouth fed me with milk and sweet food, your spirit gave me a lot of heavenly lust. “
It’s hard to believe: But it is the fifth (original) stanza of the passion song “O head, full of blood and wounds” by Paul Gerhardt (1607-1776). In the midst of fatigue, suffering and death, the prayer (or singer) does not forget the good things in life.
– Aren’t we tired of the corona situation too?
– Aren’t we tired of the restrictions too?
– Are we not frightened by the current numbers of new infections and deaths?
Some situations are immutable. The song can be a role model for us and give us strength not to lose sight of the good in difficult hours. It will get better – this is not a riddle, but God’s promise in the Holy Week that lies ahead.
As part of the “Segen to go” campaign, the song “O Haupt, voll Blut und Wunden” from the Mark Passion by Reinhard Kaiser (1674-1739) is set to music. The Church Choir Tann, Pastor Heike Dietrich and Pastor Jonathan Stubinitzky wish a hopeful look at the cross that already harbors the joy of Easter.
Information on the “Blessings to go” campaign
Since the beginning of the corona pandemic in March 2020, the Tann church choir has been sending musical blessings out into the world: Under the title “Blessings to go”, a picture, text and information (QR code, link and keywords) are sent on various cards stated in a blessing song on the YouTube channel “KiMuTann”.
And the blessing is spreading widely: Enthusiastic feedback from all over Germany allows the blessing to have an effect far beyond the borders of Tann.
The now 16 blessing cards are constantly updated and expanded and can be picked from a line there during the opening times of the Tanner City Church. On request, they can also be sent to you by post or email from the Tann parish office: Telephone (06682-266) or email ([email protected])
