New Yorkers people over 30 years old can receive vaccines against covid-19 As of this Tuesday, as announced by the state governor, Andrew Cuomo, by surprise. As stated, the state of New York also plans to open vaccination to over 16 next week, from April 6.
The announcement places New York in the forefront to meet the goals that US President Joe Biden has imposed on vaccination for the country, by which it is intended that all adults are eligible to receive vaccines by May 1. New York is the second state to extend its vaccination to those over 30, following a similar announcement from Connecticut this weekend.

“Today we take a monumental step in the fight to defeat COVID-19,” said Cuomo. “New York will strive to make the vaccine accessible to all communities to ensure equity, particularly for communities of color who are often left behind. We can see the light at the end of the tunnel, but until we get there, it is more important than ever for each and every New Yorker to wear a mask, socially distance themselves, and follow all safety guidelines. ”
The fact that all adults over the age of 30 are eligible for the covid-19 vaccine does not imply that they receive it immediately. So far, 30% of New Yorkers have received at least one first dose, and about 17% of the state’s population has received both doses. In New York City, 27% have received at least one dose and 15% are already fully immunized, according to local press figures.
