The Manchester United stopper will not be seen in the next international for Sweden.
The Swedish national team will meet Estonia for a private international match at Friends Arena next Wednesday, but it will happen without Victor Lindelöf.
This was confirmed by the Swedish national team assistant Peter Wettergren at a press conference on Monday.
– He will leave us tonight, Wettergren says according to Expressen.
However, it is uncertain why Lindelöf will return to Manchester.
Wettergren does not go into any details, but explains that there are personal reasons behind it.
Solskjær’s wish
Monday night reports Aftonbladet that Lindelöf leaves the Swedish squad after Sweden’s national team management has spoken with United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær.
They must agree that the midfielder needs to rest as a result of having previously experienced back problems and due to Manchester United’s tight match schedule.
Lindelöf himself stated during the last national team gathering that he has experienced the back problems for a long time, but that they only occur after matches.
Lindelöf played 180 minutes for Sweden in the two international matches last week, but will not be seen in the less important private match in Stockholm on Wednesday.
Dream start
In the World Cup qualifiers, the Swedes, in contrast to Norway, got a dream start on the way to the championship in Qatar.
It all started with a 1-0 victory over Georgia at home, before Sunday night was an impressive 3-0 victory away against Kosovo.
This means that the Swedes now top Group B ahead of both Spain and Greece.
Zlatan back
Common to both the first two matches is that Zlatan Ibrahimovic played a key role.
The Milan star recently returned to the national team after being out for several years and there is little doubt that the 39-year-old still has a lot to contribute.
Against Georgia and Kosovo, Ibrahimovic accounted for three of four assists.
However, national team manager Janne Andersson has indicated to C More that the superstar will probably be referred to the bench in the private match against Estonia as they want to rotate on the team.
This despite the fact that Ibrahimovic is supposed to be the desire to play.
