Court acquits Nieuwegeiner from order of high-profile liquidation | Inland

After a demand of thirty years, the court came to a sentence of sixteen years, which is imposed on D. for, among other things, leading an organization that smuggled at least 2500 kilos of cocaine and heroin from the Netherlands to England. In addition to international drug trafficking, D.’s gang also intended to commit liquidations, the court believes, despite the acquittal in the Sabee case. A large amount of weapons, including hand grenades and a machine gun, were found in garages and sheds in October 2018, when the police rounded up the gang. The gang also had stolen cars.

Sabee survived an assassination attempt in 2014. On June 24, 2016 he was still liquidated. After the failed attack, Sabee made a few so-called wills, in which he expressed the strong suspicion that D. had anticipated his life. Sabee’s killers have gone untraceable.

‘Only right decision’

Legal psychologist Peter van Koppen was commissioned by lawyer Yehudi Moszkowicz to investigate the criminal investigation and strongly criticized parts of it. For the criminal lawyer, the acquittal for the murder and the attempt to do so comes as no surprise. “It’s the only right decision,” said Moszkowicz.

The court sentenced four co-defendants to seven to fourteen years in prison. Two suspects have been wholly acquitted.
