More than one hundred rural producers from communities in Córdoba benefited from the delivery of 220 kilos of black bean seed, of the Comapa and Primavera varieties, carried out by the Córdoba City Council to promote backyard activities.
Ovidio Romero Zavaleta, head of agricultural development, highlighted that the varieties of seed delivered are certified by the National Institute of Forestry, Agricultural and Livestock Research (INIFAP). He pointed out that the objective of the delivery of improved seed is to promote self-consumption and promote the commercialization of surplus production.
Marcela Fuentes Huerta, a beneficiary of the third block of El Barreal, thanked the municipal authorities for the support given, since, she said, the health emergency complicated access to the basic food basket: “This support allows me to support my family”, he claimed.
The head of Agricultural Development indicated that the seeds delivered by the Córdoba City Council and INIFAP do not require fertilization or fertilization, with short-term production and a high power of nutrients.
He said that thanks to the monitoring of these actions, it contributes to promoting access to the right to balanced food. “We have had good results. In addition to self-consumption, there is already a surplus of production that is marketed, “he said.
He said that together with the more than one hundred producers benefited with the delivery of bean seeds, the Córdoba City Council maintains actions in favor of coffee, such as the quality certification of producers, as well as the introduction of alternative crops such as cinnamon, pepper and avocado .
Romero Zavaleta specified that President Leticia López Landero also implemented actions through the Contigo en el Campo program that provided the 34 communities with tools and supplies to carry out work on plots and roads.
He stressed that the actions to promote the countryside carried out by the Córdoba City Council have contributed decisively to the economic reactivation of the rural area, and support the exercise of the rights of families living in the countryside in the municipality.
