On the morning of October 10, 2020, the police intervened in an apartment in the 7th arrondissement of Lyon. Called for nighttime noise, two police officers allegedly used excessive force, injuring the tenant of the apartment and his brother.
From the testimonies of the interlocutors present, Rue89Lyon drew the thread of this nightmarish end of the housewarming evening for the people who lived it. On the police side, we highlight the “violence” of those arrested.
It is 7 am, this Saturday, October 10, 2020. In an apartment in the 7th arrondissement, Léo Mercado, 23, is doing his housewarming, with friends and his brother Arthur.
About twenty people at the height of the evening. There are only eight of them remaining in the apartment when the young man hears the bell ringing. At the door, eight police officers, he said, came for facts relating to the nighttime noise. The discussion begins with two police officers identified by Léo as agents of the anti-crime brigade (BAC) in civilian clothes.
Calm initially, the exchanges will deteriorate.
“At first we were scared when we heard a knock. Then we heard that they were talking calmly with the agents. We didn’t worry.”
Alex, 24, friend of Arthur and Léo
The two brothers were left alone with the police. The last members of the evening went to sit upstairs in this duplex. Everything seems calm.
“Do you know why we are here?” An agent asks.
