The staff of the establishment sent a letter to President Emmanuel Macron and the Minister of National Education on Friday, asking for its closure.

For several weeks, schools in Île-de-France have been facing an outbreak of Covid-19 cases. Seine-Saint-Denis is particularly affected. In the Eugène Delacroix high school in Drancy, with nearly 2,000 students, the situation is very worrying.
Nearly sixty cases have been identified in students since the start of the school year on March 1 and twenty parents of students have died since the start of the health crisis in March 2020. The headmaster of the school and his assistant are also said to be suffering from Covid and many professors are absent.
Letter to the President
Faced with this situation, the staff of the establishment opposed their right of withdrawal, refused by the Academy of Créteil – which manages the departments of Seine-Saint-Denis, Val-de-Marne and Seine-et-Marne. The teachers of the Eugène Delacroix high school also sent a letter to President Emmanuel Macron and the Minister of National Education Jean-Michel Blanquer on Friday in which they demand the closure of the establishment. They denounce a “alarming health situation“. “We demand the urgent and temporary closure of the establishment, with a total switch to distance education to ensure pedagogical continuity.“, they write.
New measures
Twelve high school classes have already closed. And this could only be a start given the measures announced Friday by Jean-Michel Blanquer. These stipulate that a class will close on the first positive case of Covid identified. The number of closed classes in the establishment could thus continue to increase. “The principal evicted ten more classes” so “22 classes will be closed from Monday“, and one “massive screening“will take place from Tuesday in the high school, announced this Sunday the rector of the academy of Créteil.
On Friday, the Académie de Créteil returned worrying figures: 857 teachers and more than 3,600 students would be infected with Covid. A week earlier, they numbered 2366. 272 classes are also closed in Seine-Saint-Denis, but no school for the moment.
