JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Minister of Health (Menkes) Budi Gunadi Sadikin said, in April 2021 Indonesia will only have 7 million doses the Covid-19 vaccine Sinovac.
This follows the increase in Covid-19 cases in India which causes the country to have to do embargo on AstraZeneca vaccine shipments to WHO and GAVI.
Budi said vaccines produced in India must not leave the country. For information, India is a country that has the second largest vaccine factory in the world, after China.
“As a result, the supply is lacking, so it is reallocated again. So we should get around 11.7 million in March-April, just like yesterday, only 1.1 million,” Budi said at the Charta Politika survey release event, Sunday (28/3 / 2021).

“In March, it happened that there were still quite a lot of Sinovac stocks, but I want to report to the Governor’s brother, in April there were only 7 million Sinovacs. So I only have 7 million stocks from Sinovac,” continued Budi.
Initially, Budi estimated that Indonesia could get 7.5 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccine, bringing the total to 15 million.
However, the embargo in India had an impact on disrupting vaccine supplies.
On the other hand, Budi said, currently vaccine injection in Indonesia has reached 10 million doses.
This amount, he said, made Indonesia follow Israel and France in terms of the number of vaccination doses.
“We live under Germany, Turkey and Brazil, for countries that do not produce vaccines. We are in the top 4 of the world now following Israel and France,” he said.
Even so, said Budi, the vaccination in April will shorten the injection rate.
The reason is that currently Indonesia has succeeded in injecting 500,000 doses of vaccine per day.

“If we only have 7 million, that means 14 days. I am currently making arrangements, how can we slowly endure the rest,” said Budi.
Therefore, he also asked regional heads to explain this to the community not to move out of their regions.
The event was also attended by West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil, Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo, and DKI Jakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria.
