The Galician College of Architects has taken a stand against the administrative process that may lead to the demolition of Casa Carnicero, in ruins after the fire it suffered last July. He defends that it is a listed building, the work of the architect Rafael Gonzalez Villar, which must be maintained by law. Right now is owned by the City Council of Oleiros.
The delegate of the College in A Coruña, member of the governing board, Roberto Costas, emphasizes that all well cataloged must be maintained and rehabilitated by legal requirementl. He considers that the recovery should be carried out by the owner, in this case the Oleiros Council, with the support of the Xunta and the central government.
The College of Architects has prepared a report commissioned by the Xunta’s patrimony for the “safeguard from ruin“of the Casa Carnicero. Costas explains that the building, built from 1913 to 1915, is a clear example of the avant-garde and rationalist architecture of the beginning of the century.
