Charles Leclerc may start fourth on Sunday. A good result for Ferrari, but especially Friday and Saturday morning it did not look like it, Leclerc says against Sky Sports.
“I don’t know what it looked like, but I’m having a really hard time this weekend,” he says. “In the first and second free practice I struggled with the car. It just doesn’t drive well in general.”
In qualifying, however, it was a different story. “I knew that I could do a good lap, but until you actually do it, you’re not sure. Qualifying went well. I built up the speed and am very happy with my lap in Q3.”
Whether Ferrari has a good chance tomorrow? “I think so, but I’ve been very impressed with AlphaTauri since Friday. They were very fast on race pace and they start on the medium tire on Sunday.”
“Our goal is to at least keep our position, the top three is not yet achievable for us”, he is already looking ahead to the race in Sakhir.
Although the car is not yet perfect, it is going in the right direction, Leclerc thinks. “We have a good balance and our car is a bit easier to drive compared to last year. I can feel that we have a little more power. It’s still early, but I feel like we’ve made a big step.”
