Vaccine Stock Is Running Out, Minister of Health Will Slow Down Covid-19 Vaccination Rate

Liputan6.com, Jakarta Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin confirmed the delivery delay the COVID-19 vaccine. This is because a number of countries in Europe have experienced a surge in cases COVID-19 and embargoing the AstraZeneca vaccine in India.

“The delivery of the GAVI (Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization) is postponed, the estimate is until May. So that we are now injecting more slowly,” said the Minister of Health during an online media discussion, Saturday (27/3/2021).

Minister of Health explained that currently vaccination in Indonesia will reach 10 million with a vaccine speed trend of 500 thousand per day. However, due to the delay in delivery of GAVI, the vaccination strategy will be slowed down.

“In March and April the vaccination rate of 15 million (doses) per month is close to the injection rate,” he said.

The Minister of Health said that the slowing rate of vaccination would not necessarily be a hindrance vaccination against COVID-19 nationwide because there are still Sinovac stocks to be used. “We arrange it to fit the vaccine supply so that there won’t be a day when people don’t get injections.”
