Brazilian roads may become a little brighter (literally) with the arrival of ten units of the truck Peterbilt 389, landed last Thursday (25) at the port of Paranaguá (PR).
The units were imported from the United States, where they are produced, jointly by some collectors from São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina.
The arrival was revealed on the official page of Portos do Paraná on a social network, the administrator of the port of Paranaguá. According to the post, the trucks have items such as a double bed, TV and minibar in the cabin.
However, as they go to collectors, the units are unlikely to be seen in heavy work on the highways. Most likely, they will be kept immaculate in sheds hidden across the country. Even so, the disembarkation of ten units of mechanical horses full of chromiums generated a stir in the port of Paraná.

The Peterbilt 389 have a multitude of possible configurations. Engines, transmissions and cabin possibilities vary. The units brought to Brazil appear to be identical, varying only in color. There is no information about the mechanical assembly that equips the models.

The 389 series was launched in 2006, succeeding an old line of the brand’s trucks, now controlled by the Paccar group. The model can receive two engines, one from Paccar itself, the MX-13, with 13 liters and up to 510 hp, and one from Cummins, the X15, with 15 liters and about 500 hp.
The fact is that they all have APU, a small generator responsible for ensuring electricity when the trucks are stopped, one of the model’s options. And it is a fundamental item: they can be equipped with double bed, TV and minibar in the cabin.
QUATRO RODAS met some owners of the imported units, who did not want to comment. The price of each one is a mystery, but certainly the lot did not come cheap. In direct conversion, a unit in the United States may already exceed the R $ 1 million mark. With all taxes and import duties, the value can go up stratospherically.
