In order to steer this program throughout its life cycle, a joint venture agreement (JV), known as a project agreement, will be signed on Monday by Éric Pommellet, CEO of Naval Group, and Laurent Castaing, general manager of Chantiers of the Atlantic. This management via a JV – 65% for Naval Group and 35% for the Saint-Nazaire shipyards – was proposed by the two manufacturers. “This JV is an efficiency and synergy accelerator between the two manufacturers, which will work in a very intertwined way. It makes it possible to reduce the risks of the program slipping ”, underlines the Hôtel de Brienne.
Florence Parly must also announce in Lorient that the State has decided to bring forward by two years the delivery of two of the five defense and intervention frigates (FDI) ordered under the military programming law. The first will be delivered as planned in 2024. However, the next two will be delivered in 2025 instead of 2027. “This decision makes it possible to fill a load hole in Lorient”, specifies the Ministry of the Armed Forces. And to maintain jobs and skills. The last two IDFs are due for delivery in 2028 and 2029. In the meantime, Naval Group hopes to sign export contracts, particularly in Greece, where France “Leads intense discussions” to sell several boats, including four IDFs.
