Mayor Stefan Wohlfart had good news for the Zellingen municipal council: three projects from Zellingen were selected by the ILE “Main-Wein-Garten” and are thus funded. The plan to identify additional hiking trails was particularly well received with second place in the internal ranking, followed by the expansion of the Retzbach health garden to include an adventure trail and classic fruit and vegetable varieties on a narrow strip (we reported). The renovation of a wayside shrine near Duttenbrunn is also funded through integrated rural development, although the funding is split with another project.
The Zellingen store saves over 10,000 euros on fiber optic connections for elementary schools through optimized cable routing. For this, the local council unanimously changed its award decision of December 15, 2020. The Telekom offer for both school buildings (Zellingen and Retzbach) at that time amounted to around 89,450 euros with funding of 50,000 euros.
There is a cheaper way for fiber optics for the Zellinger school building
Now it was said in the local council that when inspecting the two school buildings to prepare the network cabling (LAN to modem and router), an alternative route was found for the school building in Zellingen: The fiber optic cable can enter the building’s storage room on the left of the entrance stairs. This saves money when it comes to network cabling in the building and, above all, outdoors, as far less civil engineering work with tearing up the cobblestones is necessary. The saving is over 10,330 euros.
In order to be able to submit the funding application, the local council had to formally revoke its old resolution and re-award the contract for the seamless fiber optic connection of the Zellingen school building at a price of 46,330 euros to Telekom.

Several volunteers who want to help set up the pool in the Zellingen open-air swimming pool in the future have volunteered for the future. According to Mayor Stefan Wohlfart, the work is now progressing well after a delay due to an old basin that has been filled in. He himself will take care of the final paving of the area; last weekend, as a mason and concrete builder, together with employees of the building yard, he renewed the paving around the non-swimmer pool. “This is my counterbalance to desk work,” he explained to the local council, and assured that there will be no invoice from his company.
Offers for the outdoor facilities well above the estimated costs
Following tenders, the municipal council awarded three contracts for the ongoing new construction of the Retzbach kindergarten. The tiling work went to the Göbel company from Würzburg for around 30,000 euros, the flooring work for 50,000 euros to the DaciM-Boden company from Asperg (near Stuttgart) and the carpentry work for 115,000 euros to the company Interieur Montage from Ruhstorf an der Rott (near Passau).
The municipal council canceled the tender for horticulture and landscaping because of bids well above the estimated costs; overall, the currently awarded contracts are below the cost calculation.
