Dimitar Berbatov’s protégé breaks through on the chalga stage! 18-year-old Andrea from Razgrad is part of the “Successful Children of Bulgaria” project of the footballer’s foundation, as she has excellent voice data.
This is clear from the participation of the student in the reality show “The Voice of Bulgaria”, where Andrea shines with a pop song. Unfortunately, none of the 4-member jury, including Grafa and Mihaela Fileva, turned to say their “yes” and Andrea dropped out of the music competition. “I’m sorry” was the only and short comment of the singer then.
After this failure, the young brunette radically changed her singing style and a few days ago debuted on the company TV of “Painer”, where she played her song “Go” in a duet with her slightly more experienced colleague Denis.
Curiously, Andrea uses her birth name as a pseudonym, although there is already a far more famous Andrea in her native chalga. However, the Cobra’s boyfriend, whose real name is Teodora Andreeva, has not been part of Payner’s folklore for a long time, and so the cult name is back, writes “Bulgaria Today”.
Andrea from Razgrad has been studying pop singing for many years with the vocal pedagogue Svilena Decheva at the Center for Work with Children. There, the little singer is a “colleague” of Krisia, and both are training for the big music scene.
Andrea has performed at various festivals and competitions, including the international competitions “Pop Foundation” in Barcelona and “Stars of Art” in Varna, where she won first places.
Many of her performances are for charity. When she was 13 years old, Andrea became the second finalist from Razgrad to qualify for the final stage of the selection for the Eurovision 2015. Her prestigious awards provide her with nominations for participation in the project “Successful Children of Bulgaria” of the Dimitar Berbatov Foundation. The high school student from the Language School, where she studies English and German, also participates in the master class of the producer at the Bulgarian National Radio Maya Raykova.
Four years ago, Andrea became the representative for Razgrad district in the Children’s Council at the State Agency for Child Protection, and today she is moving forward with her next musical successes.
When there are no commitments to study or record songs in the studio, the young singer volunteers for the children in the social home in Razgrad. “They don’t have anyone, they don’t trust anyone and that’s why I want to show them the good side of life,” the budding folk singer commented.
Many of her entourage are surprised by Andrea’s musical transformation from pop to chalga, especially since her first song is quite typical of the musical style – as the sound and theme of the video.
In recent years, there have been more cases in which young pop singers decide to turn to the chalga. Radko Petkov, who won the music TV show “The Voice of Bulgaria 4”, as well as Lydia, who is chasing Preslava for success and vision, are the loudest transfers from one style to another.
At the beginning of the century, Elvira Georgieva made a similar transition and became the first pop star with an affinity for chalga sound. Her repertoire is oriented mainly to the fans of the hit. The singer successfully experiments in the style of popfolk with songs and videos with a slightly erotic vision, which is provoked and justified by the image of Elvira as a sex symbol.
