One day I’ll go to New York to the Knicks … But only a few hours. Vincent Poirier, the French pivot of the Philadelphia Sixers, (2.13 m and 107 kilos), joined the New York Knicks on Thursday evening, during the traditional NBA Trade Deadline, the last day of the transfer window. So everything was going well. The former Paris-Levallois player left a formation where he had played little (10 games, 4 minutes, 0.8 point average) to revive with the Knicks, current fifth in the Eastern Conference (22 wins, 22 losses) . Within a team which is living its best season for nearly ten years, Vincent Poirier would have had a chance to play to be able, finally, to truly launch his career in the NBA after disappointing periods in Boston and therefore in Philadelphia.
Poirier, delighted, had already modified his biography on Twitter and posted a photo of him with another French Knicks player, young point guard Frank Ntilikina, before quickly changing his communication.
A few hours later, he learned that he had been cut by the New York training. The franchise has, in fact, decided to make a three-way exchange with the Sixers but also the Oklahoma City Thunder. So, New York picked up full-back Terrance Ferguson (Philadelphia), while Oklahoma City got Austin Rivers (New York) and sent George Hill to Philadelphia. So here is Poirier without a club. And maybe at the end of his NBA adventure.
