In the vicinity of Purmerend, officers saw a car passing by at high speed on Wednesday evening around a quarter past nine. The chase started and after a stop signal was given, the offender took off at high speed. After ignoring the stop sign, a wild ride through Noord-Holland followed. According to witnesses, the fleeing car was chased by up to seven police cars. A police helicopter was also deployed.
‘Blood passage through the city center’
At the Wijdebrugsteeg the car came to a stop and the driver fled and the passenger was arrested. Neighbor Henk Groot: “It was a madhouse. That madman flew at a bloody pace through the narrow city center. Like a maniac! It seemed wild west here: helicopter, police cars and motorcycle police chasing that car. Luckily no one was walking on the street in the entertainment area because of the curfew, then it could have ended very badly. I hope they get him soon. What I know is he left the car with the passenger and started running very fast. ”
