Dutch radio stations boycott music by Bilal Wahib | NOW

Qmusic, SLAM! and the NPO radio stations 3FM and FunX have decided to stop playing the music of the discredited Bilal Wahib. The reason for this is the incident involving Wahib and Oussama Ahammoud, in which Wahib asked a minor boy to show his genitals for a fee.

“FunX and 3FM have decided to stop playing the music of Oussama and Bilal until there is more clarity,” said a spokesman for the NPO. “A new decision may be taken on that basis.” The public broadcaster also says it will continue to talk to “listeners, DJs, music compilers and broadcasters about sexually transgressive behavior online.”

Also SLAM! FM and Qmusic have announced that they are boycotting Wahib’s music in response to last week’s events. That means his hit for Qmusic 501 together with Ronnie Flex will not be heard in the Top 40 on Friday afternoon, while the song is listed in third place.

Wahib’s music can still be heard on Radio 538, where his single 501 at number seven of Friday’s 538 Top 50. “At the moment we see no reason to exclude Bilal Wahib from the music programming of Radio 538, but we keep a close eye on the reports on this,” said a spokesman for parent company Talpa.

Several employers already distanced themselves from Wahib last week. For example, Top Notch, his record label, stopped all activities and NPO Zapp removed him from the program Teenage Boss, which he presented. Old episodes of the program have also been taken offline.

On Thursday it was announced that Wahib will not receive Edison Pop on Saturday, while the jury had actually awarded him a prize in the Newcomer category.
