On Monday March 22, the first blood drive of the year was held, organized by the French Blood Establishment (EFS) and the Montcuq-en-Quercy-Blanc blood donor association. The usual room in the entertainment space being occupied by the vaccination center, the blood donation moved to the adjoining room. It was necessary to adapt to a new organization with reception, consultation with the EFS doctors, sampling, snacks provided by the EFS. Health rules were scrupulously respected and the pandemic in no way discouraged donors. The regulars had responded, and we noted the participation of several young donors.
During the afternoon, 57 people were collected from a total of 61 volunteers, including three new donors, greeted with kindness and consideration by the team of volunteers. All responded to an almost identical motivation: to demonstrate good citizenship and save lives.
In 2020, the four blood drives attracted a total of 233 donors, 200 of whom were collected, and among them 20 new donors, a figure that is above the departmental average. In view of this good score, and in view of the loyalty and regularity of donors from the Montcuq center, a fifth collection will be organized in 2021. Next dates: May 28, August 17, October 25 and December 28, from 3 pm to 7 pm, to the entertainment area.
