ROTTERDAM – The eldest of the Rotterdam gorilla family in Blijdorp Zoo in Rotterdam has passed away. 48-year-old gorilla female Annette had been struggling with her health for some time due to age complaints, according to the zoo. In the wild, gorillas live on average about 35 years and in zoos often older because of the veterinary care, good housing and daily care.
