Sweden took the lead with 1-0

After 35 minutes, Sweden managed to break the deadlock.

Viktor Claesson scored the goal that could be the beginning of the road to the World Cup in Qatar 2022.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic took the ball down his chest, got it to Claesson who received and managed to push the ball in behind Georgi Loria.

– It was a bit fun because we talked ten seconds before the goal, then I said that “I try to be close to you when there is some input and balls near you”. Then he said, “Yes, I see you.” It’s easy to play with him.

But Claesson admits that the game was not of the highest class.

– You walk around and are a little frustrated, when you do not get it started. This is the case in some matches, it is not easy to start the game when they are low. But at the same time we won the match.

Viktor Claesson was involved in some of the few goal chances that blue and yellow created.

Sweden’s first chance came in the middle of the first half when Sebastian Larsson found Viktor Claesson with a deep lead ball.

Claesson nodded back to Alexander Isak who with a left shot forced goalkeeper Georgi Loria to a reflex save.

Albin Ekdal, who started on the bench, did not have a fun evening. He came in after 68 minutes but injured his thigh and was replaced after 74 minutes.

– It was extremely unfortunate that he came in and got a sore thigh, says national team captain Janne Andersson.

Now Ekdal misses Sunday’s away match against Kosovo.
