Killing at camping Henkie: ‘Dear people’ | Inland

The house fire, in which a caravan burned out completely, was reported on Thursday morning at 4.15 am. A police spokesman said that there is “no indication whatsoever that it is a crime.” She added that it most likely concerns two Dutch people and the police are finalizing the investigation.

The fatal fire took place at ‘Camping Henkie’ in a caravan with an extension. Behind the Lekdijk is an old dyke house. Behind it, there are several refined mobile homes that are believed to be permanently inhabited. However, little more is left of the burnt-out ‘house’ than some blackened corrugated iron and rubble.

At the beginning of the evening it is quiet in the yard. A few cooing pigeons and a cloud of mosquitoes are the only ones disturbing the serene tranquility.

A neighbor in the adjacent chalet is clear when she comes out: “I don’t want to comment out of respect for the next of kin.” ‘The old people’ as she calls her neighbors have only just been carried away, she still wants to get rid of. The fact that there is now ‘peace on the campsite’ is the most important thing for her. “We are already having a hard time.”

Two local residents say that people have lived on the campsite since time immemorial who are not very well off. “They are quiet, sweet people that never bother anyone. A fixed group of people who live together and know each other well. So this is just drama. There are also children who simply go to school. ”

In the past, the campsite was often in the news. This mainly concerned houses or caravans that did not meet the requirements of the Building Decree or the permanent residence of holiday homes.
