Despite Corona! Berlin shows: Sports with fans works – sports mix

Finally the mood in the booth again! Volleyball shows that sports with spectators can be safe even during Corona.

The BR Volleys played in a pilot project in front of 800 fans, there was not a single positive test. Berlin won the second playoff semi-final against the Powervolleys Düren 3-1 (25:22, 25:20, 24:26, 29:27). The decisive duel away from home will follow on Saturday.

But then without a spectator. The experiment in the Max-Schmeling-Halle remains (for the time being) a flash in the pan. The procedure to get into the arena: very easy. A test center with 15 places has been set up in the training hall in the same complex.

This avoids waiting times, you can be outside again in a maximum of four minutes after a swab has been taken in both nostrils with a stick. Spectator Silvana Jahnke (50): “The test was unpleasant, but I see the necessity.”

After 20 minutes, the viewer can scan a QR code that is placed on his wrist and see the result. At the entrance, a folder scans the code, so people without a smartphone can also enter the hall.

The usual rules apply inside: distance and mask, cheering is expressly allowed. BRV fan Carsten Buschhauser (55): “Finally back in my living room! Getting close to it is always good. “

All of Sport-Berlin is looking at this test. The hope: Football, handball or ice hockey can also have spectators again.

Strong: Since catering is forbidden during Corona, there were 1500 bottles of water from the volleys for free – pure service! Pure joy! Sport is back to normal again. The message of the evening: It works with viewers – thanks to sensible and reliable concepts.
