The shopping function on Facebook and Instagram makes it possible to sell photos directly via social networks. Pictrs shows in a recent blog post how it all works.
Instagram is known to be one of the most popular social media platforms worldwide and was taken over by Facebook in 2012. In 2020 over a billion people worldwide used Instagram, in Germany alone over 21 million (source: www.futurebiz.de). With the introduction of the shopping function in 2017, Instagram completed the customer journey from pure inspiration to the conclusion of the purchase. The ideal basis for the presentation, marketing and sale of photos.
Manuel D., photographer and Pictrs shop owner: “The advantages of Instagram shopping for me are that you can offer your subscribers fairly easy access to your online shop. Instagram gives you many opportunities to draw attention to your products. I’ve definitely noticed that since I’ve been using Instagram shopping, the demand for my pictures has increased. I wouldn’t like to miss out on promoting my products on different channels. ”
Tobias Schmidt, Fehmarn aficionado and Pictrs shop operator: “The advantage of a shop on Instagram or Facebook is that you have to make relatively little effort with social media to reach a large number of people. You can promote your pictures and the corresponding prints nationwide and with a clever strategy you can reach one or the other buyer. Technically, everyone should be able to do this, and the effort is limited. “
In order to sell photos via Instagram, photographers need a Facebook fan page and an Instagram business account in addition to a Pictrs shop.
The products from the Pictrs shop can be entered on Facebook and linked to an Instagram business account. Followers can then buy the photo products in the Pictrs shop.
