The Smoke-Free Generation Award was presented on Wednesday to the GGD Hollands Midden in Leiden. The Smoke-Free Generation Awards reward initiatives that ensure that children can grow up smoke-free.
Addiction doctor Robert van de Graaf presented the award to Henriëtte Bertram of the GGD.
According to the jury report, GGD Hollands Midden offers concrete support to the municipalities with their self-developed platform, makes the progress towards smoke-free municipalities visible and connects the municipalities in this mission by creating broad administrative support.
The GGD Hollands Midden made promotional videos for all municipalities in the region. Eighteen aldermen from the Hollands Midden region have made a video in which they express themselves in favor of a smoke-free municipality. The videos were shot at locations where many children come.
All films are placed on a newly developed platform Smoke Free Hollands Midden. Municipalities can see here which locations are already smoke-free and which are not.
With the Smoke-Free Generation Awards, the Hartstichting, KWF and the Longfonds are highlighting initiatives that ensure that children can grow up smoke-free. It is the fourth time that the Smoke-Free Generation Awards are being presented.
