Schick and other Czechs from the Bundesliga will hopefully be allowed to compete in Wales as well

For the team of coach Šilhavý, the qualification for promotion to the World Championships, which will be organized by Qatar in 2022, begins today. The March qualifying period counts three encounters. Today’s duel with Estonia, which is played in Lublin, Poland. Then Saturday’s duel in Prague against Belgium and finally Tuesday’s duel in Wales.

Everything is greatly complicated by the covid-19 pandemic and the associated travel restrictions. One week ago, without the slightest exception, anyone returning to Germany from countries with a highly common covid-19 mutation would have to return to a fortnight’s quarantine upon their return.

German clubs that employ Czech representatives therefore refused to release Patrik Schick, Pavel Kadeřábek, Jan Pavlenka and Vladimír Darida for matches in Prague and Wales. This is because the Czech Republic and the United Kingdom were on the list of countries after which quarantine was necessary for all.

Therefore, there was an agreement that the four would only play the first match against Estonia. And he will not be available to coach Jaroslav Šilhavý for the next two duels.

However, changes and adjustments were subsequently made in the German quarantine administration. And professional footballers are currently allowed to travel between Britain and Germany without a long quarantine.

This paves the way for Schick, Pavlenka, Kadeřábek and Darida to also play in Wales.

“We communicate intensively with German clubs and all the essentials for moving our players from Germany to Wales are ready. At the same time, however, we are waiting for the regular update of the rules for foreign trips from and to Germany on Friday, “said Petr Šedivý, a spokesman for the Czech national team, that the current rules may easily change again tomorrow.

It should be noted that Schick et al. in any case, they were not and still are not allowed to go to the Czech Republic, otherwise they would have to quarantine after returning to Germany. Therefore, at the beginning of this meeting, the four representatives from the Bundesliga got together in Germany and moved to Lublin, Poland, by private plane. By the way, the match from Estonia was also moved here due to the covid-19.

Tonight from 20:45, an Estonia-Czechia match will take place in Lublin, Poland. After him, the Czech national team will move to Prague to complete a duel with the Belgians on Saturday.

However, with the exception of the four Schick, Pavlenka, Kadeřábek, Darida. She has to go from Poland to Germany. And if everything goes as it should now, from then she should head to Wales, where she should be available to coach Šilhavý again.

The fact that Estonians will only be able to deploy their replacement team against Czech colors today testifies to how difficult we are. In their originally nominated “A”, a positive case of covid-19 appeared.
