Covid-19: 1553 more infected in Estonia; New daily record in Poland

A further 1,553 people were found infected with the new coronavir in Estonia last day, but 14 people died of the virus-related disease Covid-19, the Health Department said on Wednesday.

New daily record in Poland

In Poland, on the other hand, 29,978 new cases of coronavirus were registered on Wednesday, a new daily record since the start of the pandemic.

The previous record of cases of infection was registered on November 7 last year, when 27,875 people were discovered with the new coronavirus in Poland during the day.

Polish Health Minister Adam Nezhelski said the situation was acute in Mazovia, central Poland and Silesia.

“Unfortunately, these signals today make us think very seriously about tightening restrictions. We are considering whether to do so regionally or nationally,” the minister said.

Polish Prime Minister Matthew Moravecki has announced that the government will come up with new restrictions by Thursday.

“The more people follow the rules and get vaccinated, the sooner the third wave will end,” the prime minister said on Tuesday.

In the fight against the pandemic, Poland renewed some restrictions this month, including the closure of schools, supermarkets and theaters.
