Thirty-year-old Dennis in the colors of the Ineos Grenadiers team won the time trial in the big race for the first time since the 2019 World Cup triumph. . He leads the rankings at the same time as American Brandon McNulty, the fourth man in the time trial.
The Czech time trial champion Černý entered the second stage with a loss of almost a quarter of an hour to the best from the opening day. Roman Kreuziger remained the domestic number one in the overall standings, but fell to 81st place with an almost three-minute loss to the leader.
On Wednesday, the peloton will set off on a 203 km long mountain stage with the final ascent to the Vallter 2000 ski resort. The race will last until Sunday.
