The photo that the woman has posted online shows the Ever Given, a huge container ship from shipping company Evergreen. The colossus of up to 400 meters long and almost 60 meters wide is visibly sloped in the Suez Canal and blocks the busy route for all ships, in both directions.
The Ever Given was on its way from China to the Dutch port of Rotterdam and normally had to moor there on March 31. We now have to wait and see when the ship can be towed again. Several tugboats are already on site.
