TRIESTE The hoped-for turning point for the vaccination campaign in Friuli Venezia Giulia arrives. The Deputy Governor with responsibility for Health, Riccardo Riccardi, announced during his speech in the Regional Council the delivery of 251,000 doses from Wednesday 24 March to 27 April: 179,010 from Pfizer, 52,400 from AstraZeneca, 19,600 from Moderna.

An availability that allows you to give impetus to the new phase: on Wednesday 24 March the booking diary reserved for the categories of highly frail people (regardless of age), and the diary for those between 75 and 79 years old open. The requirement, in the latter case, is to have already turned 75 at the time of making the reservation. In the territory of the Julian Isonzo Health Authority, vaccinations for the vulnerable and people between 75 and 79 years will begin on Thursday 25. Riccardi added that “when the doses allow, the vaccination will be extended to the 74-70, 69-65 and 64-60 age groups”. For the latter it is impossible to make any predictions, but it is likely that it will come to life from April-May onwards.

The categories of highly frail people include those suffering from respiratory, cardiovascular, neurological diseases, diabetes, severe endocrinopathies, cystic fibrosis, hepatic and cerebrovascular diseases, hemoglobinopathies, Down syndrome, severe obesity.

For those suffering from kidney failure or pathologies and HIV, vaccination will be scheduled by the dialysis centers starting today. Then there are the categories of people with high frailty and cohabiting with people with high frailty (from neurological and autoimmune diseases to oncological diseases), people on the waiting list for transplants or already transplanted and their cohabitants. And then severely disabled and their families, cohabitants and caregivers who provide ongoing assistance. “All transplant recipients – explained Riccardi – will be contacted to book the vaccination that will be carried out at Santa Maria della Misericordia in Udine starting from Saturday, while patients on the waiting list for kidney transplant, dialysis (hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis ) and kidney transplant recipients will be able to be vaccinated in their home centers from Friday ».

On Tuesday Riccardi provided the latest data on the progress of the vaccination plan: “152,961 doses of Pfizer, 5,142 of Moderna, 30,000 of AstraZeneca have already been administered”. There are 22,684 bookings for Anglo-Swedish serum. “We had 98% memberships among the staff of the Regional Health Service – specified the deputy governor -, 70% for the guests of the RSA, 70% for the over eighty and 98% for school and university staff”.

“The epidemiological picture in Friuli Venezia Giulia records an increase in the trend of the contagion curve of 2% – Riccardi communicated in his speech – which is decreasing when compared with the last 3 weeks when the data recorded + 37%, +38 % and + 57%. We expect a decline even if hospital demand is still growing ». Riccardi highlighted how the cases of positives on tampons, from 1 January to 21 March, amounted to 6.9% (Italian average 6.3%), behind Puglia, Calabria, Marche, Campania, Molise Basilicata, Province autonomous of Trento, Lombardy and Emilia Romagna. With regard to deaths, he reiterated that the mortality rate in Fvg in 2020 was lower than the national average: “The number of deaths compared to that of Covid positives in 2020 shows an average of 3.5% at the national level, while in our region the average was 3.3% “

The deputy governor then referred to the outbreaks from September to March: «A reduction in hospitals and retirement homes thanks to the vaccination campaign, while increasing indicators have been recorded in school activities, work and family visits. The outbreaks present a fast transmission method, especially in family contexts and in small municipalities ».

Riccardi finally explained that from 5 February to 17 March in the region the positives from the English variant were equal to 48.3% of the swabs examined, with peaks of 75% in the former province of Gorizia and 57% in the Udine area “. –
