Chelsea angry after being eliminated Barcelona of Champions League 2009. John Obi Mikel revealed, Chelsea’s dressing room was in chaos after the controversial match.
The incident occurred after Chelsea drew 1-1 with Barca at Stamford Bridge. The Blues took the lead thanks to Michael Essien but the imminent victory had to be canceled as Andres Iniesta scored the equalizer in injury time.
Chelsea were finally thrown out because they lost the productivity of away goals after the 0-0 result at Camp Nou.
However, the results of the match do not show the situation on the field. The Chelsea players lost their cool because of the leadership of the Norwegian referee, Tom Henning Ovrebo, who did not award four penalties.
Chelsea striker Didier Drogba at the time had an outrage in his post-match interview. Ovrebo himself later admitted that he made many mistakes in the match.
Obi Mikel could only see from the bench when Chelsea get rid of Barcelona. The Nigerian midfielder described the chaos in the Chelsea dressing room.
“It was chaos in the hallway and the dressing room after that,” recalled Obi Mikel to the Athletic, which was launched Daily Mail. “Bottles, objects floating all over the place. Tables crumbling. Everyone screaming and screaming.”
