Corona outbreak in asylum seekers’ center Nijmegen | Inland

About three hundred people live in the azc in Nijmegen. They are housed in three buildings, which used to form a military complex together. The complex is located in the middle of a densely populated neighborhood. The first infections came to light last week. On Friday, there were a total of 28 infections after source and contact research. That was reason for the GGD to test all residents of the asylum seekers’ center on Sunday and that resulted in another 24 infections.

The Nijmegen corona outbreak occurs in two of the three buildings, according to the GGD. The uninfected residents of the two buildings who have had contact with Covid patients are in quarantine and will be tested again later this week. The residents of the building where no corona has been established are allowed to leave the site. The GGD and COA are keeping a close eye on the situation in Nijmegen, said a spokeswoman.
