Rhinovirus blocks COVID-19

Scientists claim that some viruses compete with each other. And rhinovirus is stronger than coronavirus and can block it.
British scientists from the University of Glasgow have come to the conclusion that rhinovirus, which provokes the common cold, is stronger than the coronavirus. It is reported by BBC News.
“The flu is the strongest virus, which in most cases works alone. The same cannot be said, for example, about adenoviruses. There has been a lot of research on the study of the viral interactions of Sars-CoV-2. But due to social distances, the ability to determine this process has become much more difficult.” , – says the study.
For viral research, epidemiologists took a copy of the mucous membrane of the respiratory tract and infected it with Sars-CoV-2 and rhinovirus. It turned out that the virus that provokes colds inhibits the development of COVID-19 in the human body. And if the rhinovirus develops within a day, then the coronavirus will have no chance.
Scientists suggest that in 2009 rhinovirus reduced the development of swine flu in some European countries.
Research has shown that this type of virus triggers an immune response within infected cells, thereby blocking the ability of Sars-CoV-2 to make copies of itself.
Recall that scientists talked about the increased risks of the disease coronavirus in the spring due to pollen in the air.
