The mayor of New York, Bill de Blasio, reported that the entire staff of municipal workers will return to work as of May 3.
I emphasize that the epitome of city recovery will be to transform the modus operandi to achieve equality when it comes to racial justice.
Announced the creation of the Commission for Racial Justice (CJR), a public body in charge of promoting equality, inclusion, representation and access to opportunities in the work of the city.
The CJR will be headed by Jennifer Jones Austin, as director, and will have some Latino members such as: Ana Bermúdez, commissioner of the Probation Department, and Yesenia Mata, executive director of La Colmena.
De Blasio referred to the expansion of the initiative to Cure Violence, in which its members will double in 29 police barracks by this summer. Similarly, five new sites will be incorporated into this initiative for the same date and will be the barracks: 49, 69, 70, 71 and 103.
He also recalled that the Bronx today has a special election for the Council, in districts 11 and 15. For more information go to: vote.nyc
Regarding the new indicators used to measure progress in the fight against coronavirus, the most recent data showed:
- Number of positive cases admitted to hospitals: 203 (56%)
- Number of hospitalizations per 100,000 population, 7-day median (NYS): 3.63
- COVID-19 reported cases, 7-day average: 3,334
- Percentage of patients who tested positive, 7-day average: 5.91%
