Chief Designer for Cyberpunk 2077 leaves CD Project RED

In a Twitter message (via PC Gamer) has gameplay chief designer for Cyberpunk 2077, Andrzej Zawadzki, announced that he is leaving the developer CD Projekt RED.

– After almost eight years, my time at CDPR is at an end. It’s time for the new adventure. To every person I have met along the way – thank you. It was an honor and a joy, the message says.

He has apparently not given any specific reason why he is leaving the ship, but the studio has, as is well known, been in bad weather after the troubled launch of Cyberpunk 2077.

Zawadzki was the person who informed the public the death threats the studio received in the wake of the latest delay in Cyberpunk 2077, in which some people threatened to “burn developers alive”.

– I understand that you feel anger, disappointment and want to say your opinion about it. But sending death threats to the developers is completely unacceptable and just wrong. We are human beings, just like you, the designer wrote in a Twitter message.

Zawadzki was hired by CD Projekt RED as quality tester for The Witcher 3 and the expansions Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine. He was later assigned the role of gameplay designer in 2016 and then began working on Cyberpunk 2077.
