In the document that the Ministry of Energy submitted to Alberto Fernández’s office, the President has a concrete summary of the five main energy works that the government wants to advance as soon as possible and for which Argentina will request million-dollar investments from China immediately.
It is an ambitious infrastructure plan that the Secretary of Energy, Darío Martínez, together with the Minister of Economy, Martín Guzmán, carefully elaborated and that Alberto Fernández will take on his next official visit to Beijing scheduled for May.
“We are going to promote the central energy works for the economic development of Argentina in the coming years, but we need investors and China can be an important actor in this,” admitted a prominent Casa Rosada official in relation to the comprehensive strategic alliance that was consolidated with Beijing and that Alberto Fernández will seek to deepen on his next trip to China.
Although in the details of these five main works that the Ministry of Energy wants to deploy there is a wide menu of key investments for the development of Argentina, the list does not include one of the works most demanded by the Xi Jinping regime in the country in the last seven years: the construction of a nuclear power plant with entirely Chinese technology.
The intention of the Government is to bring to China a concrete proposal of works so that the Xi administration evaluates its concrete investment possibilities on the following projects:
Gasoducto del Sur. It is about the construction of the San Jorge Gas Pipeline to transport a large part of the hydrocarbon production of Vaca Muerta.
Electric network in AMBA. For the government, the expansion works of the AMBA electrical network are considered essential for the adequate supply in greater Buenos Aires. The Secretary of Energy has already announced that there are contacts with the Chinese company, State Grid for this project
Electricity in Patagonia. The other investment project that will be presented to China to add investors contemplates a work that will solve a major electricity supply problem in the south of the country and that they estimate will save billionaires on costs that can reach 300 million dollars per year.
Mesopotamia gas pipeline. This project plans to advance with the crossing of the gas pipeline through the Paraná River and the branch to the north from Corrientes to Misiones.
Thermal power plant. The fifth project in the folder is the installation of the Manuel Belgrano II Thermal Power Plant.
