All emergencies have been reviewed, in particular for a better reception of patients with more privacy.
The group Ramsay Health to which belongs Versailles private hospital of Franciscaines (Yvelines) invested nearly € 450,000 to renovate the emergency department.
25,500 passages per year
In “normal” times, the place receives nearly 25,500 patients per year on average. Even if at the moment, the activity is less important. “People are afraid,” says Dr. Laurent de Bastard. During the first confinement, we had a 40% drop in activity. This created a delay in the care. “
But the 25,000 annual patients will undoubtedly return when the health crisis is over. The main aim of the work was to provide better reception to patients and a better working environment for hospital staff.
Thus, the reception has been revised with the creation of an administrative reception area where a nursing assistant begins care. “Then, the patient sees the nurse who will organize the reception, who will focus more on the criteria of seriousness and possibly carry out first aid”, explains Audrey Bachelard, manager of the service.
From the ground to the ceiling
This renovation, “from floor to ceiling” has also made it possible to create two additional consultation boxes and to perfect the short-term hospitalization unit with the creation of a double room and two single rooms. “Previously, we had a large common room where the beds were only separated by curtains, adds the health manager. “
Cameras have also been installed to secure the service but also allow nurses on call to keep an eye on patients in the waiting room. Nurses who now work directly with the doctor on call but also with all hospital services. There is in fact always a surgeon on call, for example, who can come at any time to give an opinion. “The speed of treatment is one of our advantages,” emphasizes Audrey Bachelard. We have everything on site, operating room, radiology, etc. “
Two drop-out boxes complete the emergency facilities where it is thus possible to take care of certain emergencies such as heart attacks or strokes before transferring them to the Mignot hospital or the Parly 2 clinic, which are more specialized in these areas.
We also have a box dedicated to trauma: plasters, sutures, complete the health framework. This work was planned for a long time and despite the context it was possible. We have good feedback from patients and teams.
Soon, the Versailles private hospital will see another project come to an end: that of the creation of a department dedicated to chemotherapy.
