According to Hua Chunying, the West “has neither the right nor the competence” to act as the “mouthpiece of international democracy.”
“They defend the interests of a small group of countries, while the number of supporters of the PRC is constantly increasing. All Western democracy is hegemonic hypocrisy,” the diplomat added.
On the eve of the EU, US, Canada and UK imposed sanctions on Chinese officials for violation of the rights of the Uyghurs in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
In response to EU sanctions China will impose restrictive measures against 10 people and four legal entities.
