18-year-old lost the ticket – drove in 123 km / h 50-zone

The 18-year-old, who received his driver’s license earlier in the day, was stopped by the police at the Storhaug tunnel in Stavanger at 22.15.

The reason was that the police had measured that the person in question had driven 123 kilometers per hour in what is a 50-zone.

Operations Manager Victor Fenne-Jensen in the Southwest police district tells NTB that it was a civilian traffic patrol that took this measurement.

– The driver’s license is confiscated, and a case is created, he says.

On a general basis, the operations manager says that such high speeding offenses normally result in an unconditional prison sentence, and that the driver can be without a driver’s license for 30 to 33 months, in addition to having to take a new driving test.
