Humanity leaves pieces of “space debris” wherever it goes. The Perseverance vehicle is gradually preparing to launch a helicopter designed to explore Mars. In order to do so, he had to drop the cover shield.
As part of the Mars 2020 mission, NASA sent a pair of devices to the surface. One is the famous Perseverance cart and the other Helicopter Ingenuity. This will be the first helicopter flying off planet Earth. At present, however, it is still attached to the bottom of Perseverance.

Why did the engineers attach the Ingenuity helicopter to the bottom of the rover?
Scientists have chosen to attach to the underside of the vehicle as an elegant solution to safely transport the Ingenuity to the surface of Mars and then ensure a safe launch. Simply put, Perseverance drops the helicopter in a suitable place, moves to a safe distance, and then when the first flights occur.
A photo posted on the mission’s Twitter account shows a discarded shield still protecting an Ingenuity helicopter. The video shows how the helicopter is disconnected and assembled under the photo. NASA called the whole process unconventional origami. The disconnection should take place in a suitable place within a few days.
Due to the sparse atmosphere, it will make Ingenuity more difficult to fly and is expected to make some sort of jumps. The 2 kg helicopter will map the terrain near the Perseverance in more detail. It can help with more efficient navigation in the field and finding suitable sites to explore.
