Health | Covid-19: patients in intensive care at their highest since the end of November

The pressure is still increasing on resuscitation services with more than 4,400 Covid-19 patients, the highest figure since the end of November, according to figures from Public Health France published on Sunday.

There are 4.406 patients currently in intensive care. We have to go back to November 23 to find such a high figure (4,438). As for new admissions to these services, they are 196.

In total, French hospitals counted 25,926 patients with Covid-19 on Sunday, including 926 who arrived in the last 24 hours.

Exactly one week ago, hospitals had 26,343 Covid-19 patients within their walls, including 4,127 in intensive care.

The disease took 138 people to hospital in 24 hours (up from 185 on Saturday), bringing the total number of deaths to more than 92,000 since the outbreak began more than a year ago.

A third of the French (16 departments, including the entire Ile-de-France) have been subject to new restrictions since Saturday, but it remains to be seen whether these measures will be enough to slow the progression of the virus.
