Veterans under fire for protest on Museumplein: ‘We defend the right to demonstrate’ | Inland

AMSTERDAM – With their berets on their heads and parts of their army uniforms on, veterans and former soldiers saluted to the riot police this weekend. They had come to the Museumplein in Amsterdam to, in their own words, ‘guarantee the freedom of demonstration’. “That is a fundamental right that should not be limited. Not even because of an emergency law ”, says initiator Ard Daniëls (37). Colleagues openly distanced themselves from them.
