Tottenham striker Lucas Moura has admitted that it is “hard to say” why his side have not beaten a Premier League first-half side since November.
2-0 victory over Manchester City It has proven to be the last time the Spurs did. However, the fortunes of the two clubs have changed dramatically since then.
The city is now approaching another title, while TottenhamThe season hangs in the balance after leaving the Europa League on Thursday.
The Spurs ranked first in the league in December but have slipped to eighth place, winless against teams in the top half a major cause of their recession.
However, Brazilian forward Moura says he cannot explain the statistics.
“It’s hard to say why we haven’t beaten one side of the upper half since November,” the 28-year-old told the Daily Mirror.
“What I can say is that the three games we played against Arsenal we did very well, nine points and we played very well.
“I don’t know what happened against Arsenal, which we decided to change. We do not play at our level and there is no excuse, there are no words to explain.
“But we are capable of beating this type of team. We are much better than what we did against Arsenal ”.
However, Tottenham have a chance to end their recent streak by beating ninth-ranked Aston Villa on Sunday.
Villa himself has suffered a slip after the injury of captain Jack Grealish.
“Now we have to do it differently against Aston Villa,” added Moura. “We have to go there and show that we are capable of fighting for the Champions League.”
No time to cry for Spurs, says Moura
Spurs’ only chance to win a trophy remains the Carabao Cup. In April, they will play the final against Man City, who have won the competition three seasons in a row.
Face to Thursday’s Europa League clash, Tottenham had a two-goal lead in their first leg against Zagreb.
However, they capitulated with a 3-0 loss and have had a miserable week thus far after also losing 2-1 to Arsenal in the North London derby last weekend.
When asked about that result, Moura asked his fellow stars to perform much better.

“Of course we are all disappointed in the game and frustrated that we could have done so much better,” he said.
“We don’t play at our level. We were too passive in the game, without intensity, without aggression.
“We are aware that we can do much better. But now that’s the past, we don’t have time to cry, we have to look forward.
