Since Wednesday, when the new regulation on flights to and from third countries came into force, there have been three flights at Riga Airport to which these regulations apply. Laura Kulakova, a representative of Riga Airport, explained that the possibility of Covid-19 positive passengers arriving in Latvia is relatively small.
A total of 92 passengers arrived on the three flights, of which 40 were required to take the Covid-19 test. The other passengers met various exceptions, namely sailors, diplomats, athletes. In the near future, the number of flights from third countries subject to stricter rules will be even lower, as the government has decided that this requirement no longer applies to travelers from Britain and Ireland.
Next week, six flights to Riga are expected from Kiev and Minsk. airBaltic started flights to Kiev already this week, but next week Belavia will start flights to Minsk, Kulakova told Latvijas Radio.

“This was shown by the first days that the flights were very empty and it is expected that a huge number of passengers on these flights is not expected in the future,” Kulakova said. “It must be taken into account that both in Latvia and around the world there are still various restrictions that make travel difficult.”
Passengers must present a negative Covid-19 test no later than 72 hours before departure before boarding the aircraft. Travelers must also fill in the data on the website covidpass.lv, which ensures the availability of information to control authorities.

Travelers arriving in Latvia from third countries must take the Covid-19 test and, if positive, must go for 10 days in self-isolation in one of the 30 accommodations that offer this option. You have to do it at your own expense.
