FC Bayern News: Robert Lewandowski could soon overtake Gerd Müller | Soccer News

Robert Lewandowski once again paves the way to Bayern’s victory with his hat trick against Stuttgart. With his goalscoring rate, the Pole is reminiscent of Messi & CR7 in the best La Liga times. If the world footballer continues to score, he will soon break Gerd Müller’s “eternal” record.

At first it seemed anything but good going for FC Bayern Munich: With a brave initial phase of VfB Stuttgart and the red card Alphonso Davies in the twelfth minute of the game, it did not look like a Munich victory. And then leader Joshua Kimmich was also missing because of a cold.

No problem for FCB in these times. The Bavarians shook themselves briefly, ignited their turbo and decided the southern summit in around 20 minutes with a clear 4-0 for themselves. Another match winner: Robert Lewandowski.

Only five goals left to the “all time” record

With his season goals number 33, 34 and 35, the center forward scored for the 271st time in the Bundesliga – only Gerd Müller (365 goals) is in the all-time scorer list before the 32-year-old. Not only with this record is Lewy sitting in the neck of the “bomber of the nation”: If Lewandowski should mark another five hits in this BL game round, the goalgetter will set Müller’s “eternal” record (40 goals in one season).

According to his own statements, the ex-Dortmund is not yet thinking of this record. So says the right foot after the final whistle on Sky Micro: “At this moment I am thinking from game to game.” The national player “doesn’t want to think much about the chance to make history.” The fact that he managed to overtake Klaus Fischer (268 goals) in the all-time top scorer list still makes him “very proud”.

But how does the striker manage to keep going? For the attacker himself, the mentality plays an elementary role: “It’s a big challenge for the head to be always ready and always hungry for the goals.” It is also important to “always try to give everything” in every single game.

Despite his sensational form, the Bayern goal machine warns of the coming weeks: “I know that the burden of a game every three days will now come and in the Champions League you have to stay in top form.”

In this video, Robert Lewandowski talks about the Müller goal record (video length: 60 seconds).

Hamann: striker “incredibly difficult to put into words”

The fact that the striker led his team to victory with a perfect hat trick (goal with right, left and the head) is confirmed Sky Expert Didi Hamann in his opinion on the exceptional professional. For the 47-year-old, the achievements of the eight-time German champion are “incredibly difficult to put into words” and, in summary, pure “madness”.

VfB sports director Sven Mislintat has a similar opinion. The 48-year-old knows Lewandowski from common BVB times. In 2010, the former scout of the black and yellow brought the then 21-year-old from the Polish first division club Lech Posen to Borussia Dortmund.

The experienced player observer is particularly impressed by Lewandowski’s header to make it 3-0. “It’s just absolutely world-class and it’s not where it is for nothing,” describes Mislintat on Sky Microphone.

About the game scene: Bayern’s number nine was spot on after a sparkling clean cross from Thomas Müller, soared into the air and headed the game device untenable into the opposing goal.

Mislintat sees “a cool career”

Finally, despite the defeat, the Stuttgart manager has warm words for his former protégé: “On the other hand, it’s of course a cool career and nice that we were able to push the one with Borussia Dortmund back then.”

With 42 goals in 36 games across all compulsory matches, the clippers are reminiscent of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo at their best LaLiga times this season. It is not without reason that the FCB star prevailed against the two megastars in the 2020 world football elections and is now greeting himself from the world’s best.

After the international break, the record champions await the table runner-up RB Leipzig for the tipico top game of the week (Saturday, April 3rd from 5:30 p.m. live on Sky Sport Bundesliga 1).

Then on the one hand Lewandowski has the chance to continue his record hunt and on the other hand the FCB can confirm why they are currently the ultimate in German football.
